eReuse.org Workbench

The eReuse.org Workbench is a set of tools and services to assist the preparation for reuse and traceability of digital devices (capture of hardware characteristics, hardware rating and testing, secure deletion of data and install Linux OS).

Requirements

• Debian based Linux. Tested with Debian 9.

Our installation script automatically installs debian packages and python libraries.

If you want to erase the hard-drive of a computer you will need to execute Workbench in a live cd. We offer a live-cd with a pre-configured Workbench that connects to Workbench Server in Workbench Live. You can use this project to customize a workbench live that suits your needs.

Installation

1. Download this project with git clone https://github.com/ereuse/workbench
2. Go to the project folder and execute git submodule init and git submodule update.
3. Execute with root {project-folder}/scrpits/install.sh {project-folder}, where {project-folder} is the path where your project is. So, for example, if the path of your project is ~/Documents/workbench, then execute ~/Documents/workbench/scripts/install.sh ~/Documents/workbench.

Usage

Execute erwb as root, like sudo erwb (see usage with erwb --help).

From a python file you can:

    erwb = Workbench()
    erwb.run()

The process will generate a JSON file with the hardware description in it, for example:

Known limitations
