Remove uses of pkg_resources

This should get the testing infrastructure working again by:

1. Removing deprecated uses of pkg_resources
2. Adding "iz" to the list of ignored words for typos

I'm not sure why the diff for this PR is showing so many deletions. Maybe because I didn't run the notebooks locally they are missing output?

@dangunter @bpaul4 @dallan-keylogic Could someone with more experience with this repo tell me if this is expected?
