Describe the bug

After a few hours, browsing data deletes itself. Verified settings. Nothings changed.

I've noticed I am constantly signed our of a few sites I keep or sign into at all. Tested various sites before this report. Google. Forums. Misc sites. All stay signed in for a few hours but next morning are signed out.

Wait
Be signed out.

Expected behavior

Stay signed in unless signed out manually or data cleared.

I can confirm this same behaviour on quite a lot of websites including github: I get logged out probably once a day. Definitely not every time I reopen a website, but quite often.
It is a relatively recent issue, I'd say since the latest update.

Glad I'm not the only one. And it does seem to be on quit vs earlier where I few hours. I also agree it was the last build. I don't recall it being an issue prior.

What exactly has been sorted out, and more importantly, how? We need to understand the scenario first; I don’t have a magic wand.

First of all, we need to establish whether it’s Cromite’s ‘fault’ or the website’s; in my view, it’s the website that logs you out after a period of inactivity (as it should).
To understand this, you should try it in another browser or use the developer tools to see what’s happening.

Negative

That could be one reason, but if you haven’t enabled it, as far as I know, there’s no technical reason why the browser would delete or invalidate cookies unless the website requests it. Try checking the expiry date of the cookies.

As mentioned, this happened on Google.com as well as various forums. All sites that stayed logged in unless data was cleared, signed out manually, 30 days of inactivity (forums) prior.

The last update I noticed it would sign me out (immediately), not a few hours as I thought. It was as soon as Cromite was closed.

None of my settings were set to clear browser data on exit or otherwise. It was behaving properly prior to aforementioned update.

@Lion-box Is yours fixed with the latest update? Mine is. I changed nothing, it's just fine.

I updated yesterday afternoon, soon after the release was available on GitHub.
It worked fine until yesterday night.
This morning I'm logged out from most websites including amazon, ebay, GitHub, various forums based on discourse and flaring. This happens on two very different android devices: a Samsung tablet on android 14 and a Pixel6 on latest Graphene.
Not totally sure if it depends on the amount of timeoff the device, but it feels more linked to new calendar day.
And no, no "clear data at opening" enabled. No changes in any settings since a long time.
Tonight I'll try to check around midnight.

And here I thought I was fine. Signed out of Google again. A known good source not to auto log out.

And again, I changed no settings in Cromite or my Google account that would alter the behavior.

Yeah it's wiping everything. Forgetting what I granted for testing microphone or location for example too.
