Bluetooth is required?

I have several GoPro Hero3 cameras. No Bluetooth, only wifi, it seems. The code page states "Compatible with all Hero models that have WiFi!" I can connect to the camera wifi with my android device, but the goeasypro app doesnt see the camera. Is this expected? The app wont work without Bluetooth support on the camera? If this is correct, seems like that should be stated up front somehow. The statement that its compatible with all wifi models seems incorrect.

Am I missing something obvious?
