PackageManager installation status: unknown (code -2) on Android 13

Hi,
Thanks for working on this Plugin - most other APK installers on pub.dev are old, unmaintained, and use older APIs. For some reason I can't get the example project to work on an Android 13 emulator, though. I grant all permissions but clicking the install button still gives me an 'unknown' error with statusCode of -2:

Not sure if this is the same issue, but starting with Android 12, PendingIntent.getActivity needs to have a flag supplied instead of 0.
Instead of
PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, intent, 0)

the following worked for me
PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, intent, FLAG_MUTABLE)

I tried adding PendingIntent.FLAG_MUTABLE but I get an error saying something like "inferred type is Int but Bundle expected..." during the build step.

@ImranR98 did you by any chance just add PendingIntent.FLAG_MUTABLE as a 5th parameter like this?
val pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, intent, 0, PendingIntent.FLAG_MUTABLE)
This would cause the error.

You want to replace the 4th parameter with FLAG_MUTABLE instead.
val pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, intent, PendingIntent.FLAG_MUTABLE)

@PavolC thanks that worked! Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in a background isolate (may be a Flutter limitation though and not the plugin's fault). Also the install popup always appears even when the APK is being updated - do you know if there's an option to enable silent installs when possible?

To attempt a silent install, I guess you would need to call params.setRequireUserAction(PackageInstaller.SessionParams.USER_ACTION_NOT_REQUIRED) and add the UPDATE_PACKAGES_WITHOUT_USER_ACTION permission to your manifest.

Added that line to Installer.createSession() (and added the permission) but I still get the update prompt for some reason

Are you updating an installed app or trying to install a new one? From what I understand the latter does not support silent installation, and the app performing the update must have been the app that initially installed it.

There are also requirements on the target SDK of the app being installed, as described here.

The changes I made for the PR above don't work from background isolates. I managed to get it working on my dev branch but the status receiver doesn't work - meaning there's no way to tell whether the silent install (from a background process) succeeds or fails. Leaving this comment in case anyone has ideas on how to fix that.
