Pointnet++ backbone

Hi,

Thanks for making this code public, it is a very insightful repo.

As I was reading your paper, a question came to my mind. Is there a fundamental reason that makes this approach only compatible with MinkowskiUNet or it would be possible to consider a pointnet++-like backbone ?
For what I understand, I have the feeling that what is expected from the backbone is to provide point-wise features at different scales which a pointnet++ backbone could do. I am correct or there is something deeper than I am missing ?
