Unable to get sites to display

I have tried to display various pages, but most just fail to load and some that do load display error messages.

I followed the instructions on adding multiple sites to /boot/firmware/fullpagedashboard.txt but all I get is errors and the created urls.json has all the urls joined together as one long URL.

Surely this must have worked for someone as some point.

Yes

I have resorted to directly editing the urls.json to get it to at least try to show sites. However things have not worked well so far.

The bbc.co.uk/news site refuses to load and some other things I was hoping to display (locally hosted) just give me errors on the page which I don't get when using Chrome on a Desktop or using a different (a paid for display system which is about to stop being used).
