Problem: MySQL 8.0 reaches EOL on April, 2026

Django will drop support for MySQL 8.0 in Django 6.1 on August, 2026.

Our next target should be MySQL 8.4 with support until 2032.

The development environment is already using 8.4.

There is also work in progress to support it in the ansible-percona role used to install Archivematica.
