NOAA Service Change #479
Description
Our RFC has notified us that NOAA is redirecting https://www.ftp.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov// to a new URL. Requesting Cumulus redirects WPC product sources to reflect the new URL. Service change notice for the new URL is located at: https://www.weather.gov/media/notification/pdf_2026/scn26-08_Updated_URL_change_WPC_FTP_over_HTTPS_aaa.pdf
Additionally, our RFC notified us of two other service changes on NOAA's NOMADS servers that might impact us. I'm not sure if these affect Cumulus, but providing them below just in case:
- Termination of NCEP model data: https://www.weather.gov/media/notification/pdf_2025/scn25-82_FTPPRD_end_ftp.pdf
- Termination of OpenDAP format files on NOMADS: https://www.weather.gov/media/notification/pdf_2025/scn25-81_NOMADS_Consolidate_Subsetting_Services.pdf
