Azure/AWS is starting to feel unreliable. Perhaps we should consider moving some services back on-premises. Duo Authenticator is not working with Azure AD federation although it is functioning properly for everything else. We have like a hundred tickets for failed VPN connection attempts.
I feel like most of my coworkers, and fellow sysadmins on reddit, basically celebrate these issues. "Not our fault! We didn't break it! I can put my feet up and relax now!" I don't think that is the right attitude. Perhaps we need to look into less secure alternatives? On-prem alternatives? The Azure/AWS outages aren't acceptable. There needs to be more redundancy.
Correlation =/= Causation... but I think these outages have been happening more often since AI tools have been released. It could be that we're moving more and more services to the cloud. For sure, that's part of it. Nearly every project we've completed the past 5 years has been moving services to the Cloud. Our MDF went from 4/5 full racks of equipment to barely filling one rack now. I still think the issues have been occurring more since AI tools were released.
