PiP (Picture in Picture) showing weird gradient on mouse hover

Hello team, idk what you tweaked regarding PiP feature but you broke it...
On mouse hover, the video is replaced by a black and white gradient:

Happens on all websites (tested Twitch, YouTube and such).
I'm not the only user facing this issue as it's also been reported over reddit.
Edge stable channel v144.0.3719.82

Please fix ASAP.

I just started experiencing the same bug after a recent update. I also have a feeling there could be some sort of "style leak" between the CSS of the page that PIP is triggered/started from. When opening PIP windows from YouTube i somehow end up with buttons that turn "YouTube" red when hovered:

I don't think a gradient is needed anyway. Even the dark one. Just remove it!

With every update the gradient is worse. The gradient, even the dark one before over the whole PIP s completely unnecessary. If really needed, only the button should have some overlay gradient not the whole PIP. It is ridiculous AI vibe coding.

Even weirder in my case, I am using Microsoft Edge Dev version, and it used to be like the other screenshots posted above, but since a few days earlier, now the progress bar and the play/pause/skip buttons don't work at all, and its a red overlay!

this pip issue had been present since last year now, im on the verge of just switching back to chrome probably, this feature is essential for me as a student to follow video tutorials of certain things and edge just made it harder ever since they tried to play with the pip feature and add some overlayed colour or whatever that was, just bring it back to what it used to be like

For those who wish to keep using edge, while we wait for a fix, I found an acceptable workaround, using this extension : https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/windowed-floating-youtu/kfaokmgjemianbbeadblgppcedfihdnb
When you hit the fullscreen button, it will let you choose the type of screen you want. If you choose "Windowed" (Do not choose PIP !), you get something very close to the PIP mode, then you just have to use a tool to make it always on top (I use PowerToys). The only thing I can't find is a way to get rid of the title bar.

After updating to version 144.0.3719.92, the issue was gone! I suggest you update, it must have been fixed.

Fixed. The original PIP did not have dark overlay iver the whole picture when mouse over, only the controls had dark background. Hope someone will revert that also,

Okay we can rejoice, they somehow fixed it.
Not completely though, that dark overlay must go 🤨 (what a terrible idea !)
