Timer stops when tab is suspended in background

Experienced on Chrome:

The timer stops when the tab get suspended in the background and no longer ticks the interval or triggers alerts/sounds.

After some testing, it seems like converting the timer and WebRTC handling to a WebWorker is the best course of action to avoid the timer getting paused in the background.
